Patchwork Workshop

A traditional craft currently enjoying a huge resurgence of interest, patchworking is a lovely way to use up fabrics and scraps from your stash or a good excuse to indulge in a few more of the vast array of ever so tempting fat quarters!

Patchworking is a great introduction to the basic principles of pattern cutting in general and can be used to create fabric to then make everything from interior textiles to clothing. This workshop will cover how to cut and join fabrics to create beautifully seamed together designs. We’ll also look at choosing colours, fussy cutting and the beautiful,if time consuming, hand stitched hexagons known as English paper piecing.

Be warned once you start patchworking you might not be able to stop!

SKILL LEVEL: Everyone from beginners onwards, all you need to be able to do is sew in a straight line!

REQUIREMENTS:  There will be fabrics available to make samples but you can of course bring any fabrics you have to get started on a piece of patchwork in a specific colour scheme if you have a potential project in mind. Feel free to also bring any patchwork design inspiration that has caught your eye and/or you would like advice about.

WORKSHOP DETAILS: 2.5 hours  £28
